of your course.
- How can I contact fellow alumni living in my region or working in my industry?
Please login to the OBA website with your OBA username and password and go to the OBA
Directory. Here you can enter in various search criteria to find a fellow member. If they
have chosen to publish their contact details, then you can contact them directly. Don’t forget
to choose to publish your details so fellow alumni can get in touch with you! (Be sure the
“published” button is ticked on your “Contact Details”/”Add/Edit Personal Contact” membership
page.)
- I forgot my OBA username and password to access the OBA website and relevant benefits. Whom do I contact?
Please first visit the
Forgotten Your Password page. If you are still having difficulties,
please email alumni@sbs.ox.ac.uk.
- Is there an OBA Network chapter where I live?
Currently, there are nine officially recognised OBA chapters of the Saïd Business School
worldwide. These chapters are run independently by a committee of dedicated alumni
volunteers: OBA Arabian Gulf; OBA Australia; OBA Dutch; OBA Hong Kong; OBA
London; OBA Mumbai; OBA New York; OBA Tokyo; and OBA San Francisco Bay Area. To become a member of a chapter and receive local event information, visit
the
Groups tab on the OBA website and click “join this group” on the left.
- How does the Alumni Relations Office support OBA Network chapters across the globe?
The Alumni Relations Office has a formalised process to vet official OBA chapter start ups. Official OBA chapters run independently by a committee of dedicated alumni volunteers, with starting support from the Alumni Relations Office. If there are not enough alumni on the ground in your area, then we invite you to consider joining the Regional Ambassador Scheme where you serve as the official main point of contact for alumni and recruitment activity in your city or region. Contact
Rachel Nickerson for information on the Regional Ambassador Scheme.
- Are there industry- or interest-specific alumni networks I can join?
The Alumni Relations Office oversees the School’s Oxford Business Networks (OBNs) and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These are student-led initiatives bringing together practitioners, students, alumni and academics around a certain industry or topic for focused discussion. OBNs focus on industry sectors, while SIGs are broader in their remit.
There are 20 active OBNs and SIGs during the 2009-2010 academic year, with focuses such as; Management Consulting, Finance, Leadership, Women in Business or Corporate Social Responsibility, to name a few. Alumni are invited to become members and take an active role in the group – as an alumni chair, event speaker, industry expert or simply as an event attendee.
To join an OBN or SIG, register with any group on their Saïd Business School
GroupSpaces page or find the list on the OBA website
Groups tab.
- I have not matriculated at the University of Oxford, but have attended Executive Education or Continuing Education courses. Am I eligible to join the OBA Network?
Executive Education participants on open programmes of four-days or more are eligible to join the OBA
Network.
Continuing Education students studying for a single course, lasting for at least 12 weeks* through the Department for Continuing Education, are eligible to join the OBA Network. Please contact alumni@sbs.ox.ac.uk
with your registration request – including the full name of your course and the exact dates which they were completed.
*Please note the completion of several short courses amounting to 12 weeks would not entitle an individual to membership.
