The Haiti Local Earthquake Action Partnership is an Haitian-led initiative to support Haitian community-based organisations and social entrepreneurs take the lead in rebuilding their country. The initiative was incubated by UK-based nonprofit CleanStar Development, where alumnus Sagun Saxena (MBA 2003) is an associate.
Sagun asks alumni, students and colleagues at the School to consider making a donation, conducting fundraising events; or hosting a discussion panel on Haiti to promote awareness about the need for sustainable redevelopment in Haiti. He also invites London area readers to an evening of Haitian music and conversation on the theme of "Rebuilding Haiti from the Bottom Up' on the 18th February, 6-9pm at the University of Westminster in London.
Says Sagun, “Several interesting opportunities are emerging for skilled volunteers to help Haitian government agencies and non-profit organisations with strategic planning for redevelopment at a national level. Such projects may appeal to Oxford students with Social Enterprise or Development interests. Our team in Haiti can make those introductions.”
